As far as Bob Burnquist is concerned, it pays to have a skateboard ramp in your own backyard. The skateboard legend took home X Games 16 gold in the Skateboard Big Air Rail Jam Final on Saturday at The Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum putting on a clinic for the crowd. Always the innovator, Burnquist went with something new, throwing a switch 50/50 in lucky run number seven for the highest score of the night. “What’s cool about rail is the show of progression and some of the technical tricks that we can pull off in a little bit of a slower environment while still going fast,” said Burnquist. “It’s a pretty big gap but there are a lot of opportunities to pull off those tricks.” Rob Lorfice finished behind Burnquist for the silver and Elliot Sloan landed in third to take the bronze.
