Canyons Resort 2012-2013 Preview. What can you expect?

“The three great essentials to achieve anything worthwhile are, first, hard work; second, stick-to-itiveness; third, common sense.”

– Thomas Edison

With a #4 and Top 10 ranking by Outside Magazine and Ski Magazine for best resorts in North America, the secret about Canyons Resort is out. From a locals commuter resort to a world-class ski destination, what is behind the success and what can we expect from Canyons during the 2012-2013 season?

As riders and readers were asked what it was about Canyons that has changed their opinions about the resort, three words were used: upgrades, changes and improvements.

“The Orange Bubble lift is is where it starts,” said Steve Pastorino Director of Public Relations at Canyons Resort. “While it is a symbol of the resort and a treat to ride, the Orange Bubble lift is a substantial upgrade helping Canyons create a better ski and board experience by getting riders up the hill faster.”

The 2012-2013 Season will feature three all new terrain parks and with last year’s addition of 300 acres of brand new terrain, these changes compliment other upgrades that create the Canyons Ski Experience.

It takes more than a covered and heated chair lift to be ranked this high, so with a walk able ski village with shops, bars, and new eateries including The Farm, named “Best New Restaurant in Utah” in 2012. This season the Canyons Culinary team offers a new menu still featuring locally made products served fresh to your table.

“Everywhere on the resort we want you to feel the care for your experience through the service we provide,” said Mike Goar Managing Director at Canyons. “From World-Class lodging and Food and Fine Dining options, we extend a culture of service from the top to the bottom.”

With the 2014 Sochi Winter Games approaching fast, the Sprint U.S. Snowboarding and Freeskiing Grand Prix event held at Canyons will be a key stop as riders make final preparations for the Olympics. Held during the last week of February and the first week of March, skiers and boarders will take to the uniquely designed snow cross track ending in the cozy ski beach in the ski village.

“We are thrilled to be hosting the Sprint Grand Prix again this year.” Pastorino said. “To showcase Utah and Canyons resort and play a role in Olympic preparations is an honor for us to be a part of.”

For those traveling into Utah and Park City this winter, new lodging at the Hilton Grand Vacations Club Sunrise Lodge offers a new all in one residence to bring the family to. With 83 residences, this ski-in/ski-out property includes amenities such as a heated outdoor pool/spa, fitness center, equipment rental shop and a business center.
