Top 30 Ski Resorts in the West

Ski Magazine has posted their 2014 lists of the Top 30 ski resorts in the west and east. Utah boasts 8 resorts in the top 30. 1 in every 3.75 resorts is a Utah Ski Resort.

“Utah’s resorts are committed to enhancing our natural strengths as a destination year after year,” states Susie English, Director of Communications for Ski Utah. “These rankings reflect the opinions of ski resort consumers nationwide an high rankings reinforce that our efforts are improving the Utah ski experience. We are thrilled to see Utah’s resorts ranked so highly amongst skiers across the nation.”

Canyons Resort, in conjunction with Vail Resorts has continued their climb as a top resort destination.

These rankings not only reflect that Utah is a destination ski area, but it also is a major contributor to our local economy.Nearly half of the license plates in Utah feature the slogan “The Greatest Snow on Earth,” and recently, the Utah’s ski and snowboard industry reported an economic impact of $1.1 billion.

A 2011 Forbes.com study ranked the Utah Jazz No. 16 in NBA team value at $342 million. To put into perspective on how valuable our ski and snowboard industry is, in just one winter season of snow, Skiing and Snowboarding make three times the amount of revenue than the net worth of the Utah Jazz.
