Under windy and snowy conditions at Deer Valley, Hannah Kearney returned to a familiar position at the FIS Visa Freestyle World Cup at Deer Valley, the top.
Kearney edged out Team Canada’s DuFour-LaPointe sisters by four points, taking home first place and solidifying her position on the U.S Olympic team.
“I was fortunate to have a calm hill to ski,” said Kearney. “Sometimes things go your way. The wind and snow created for some tough conditions, but I was fortunate to have a clean run. At the end of the day you still have to ski the hill to get the win, no matter what the conditions are.
Team USA’s Heather McPhie placed forth and looks to improve on her position going into the Dual Moguls competition Saturday night.
“Deer Valley is such a great place to come and compete,” said McPhie. “I have had success here before and to be able to hear the crowd below cheer for you is an absolute honor. The power of what we represent, especially in an Olympic year makes this event special.”
