For the ninth time in a row, Jamie Bestwick stood on top of the podium to collect another gold medal in BMX Vert.

“This never gets old,” Bestwick said. ““I can’t think of a better way to start the Austin X Games than to win gold.”

Bestwick was the final rider in Heat 1 stomping his run to the highest score of the night a 92.66 allowing his second run to be his “Victory Lap.”

“There is a strong BMX connection with this community here in Austin and for me to add a chapter to the books of history is a feeling that makes me so blessed to be doing what I love.”

A strong first run put Simon Tabron into second place and earned him the silver.

“I am thrilled that X Games has decided to put the Vert ramp here downtown, at the Capitol in Texas,” Tabron said. “I am also so thankful X Games has given me a chance to win silver in such a strong BMX community. What a great competition we had tonight.”
