Garrett Reynolds followed suit with fellow BMX rider Jamie Bestwick to continue his gold medal haul to 7 total, as he took home to gold needing his third and final run to beat out Dakota Roche.
“It just doesn’t get old,” Reynolds said. “Being here in Austin for the first time adds a little something extra special to this win for me. I just love being able to go do something I love everyday with the best friends I have. We all push each other to be our best out there.”
After Chad Kerley, presumed gold medal challenger failed to make it to the finals, Reynolds was pushed by Dakota Roche who led the majority of the competition until Reynolds’ third run.
“I was just surprised and excited to make it to the finals let alone led the majority of the competition,” Roche said. “I was cheering for Garrett (Reynolds) because you root for the best in the sport so you can watch and appreciate what they do for the sport.”
Dennis Enarson rounded out the podium in third.
